Job Announcement - Development Manager
The Diablo Regional Arts Association, based in Walnut Creek, is looking for a motivated, enthusiastic, detail-oriented person, with an interest in the Arts to join our team. DRAA is committed to making the Lesher Center for the Arts (LCA) one of the leading arts centers in the Bay Area. As a non-profit organization, DRAA raises funds to support the full spectrum of professional arts programs at the LCA including drama, musical theatre, dance, opera, symphony, music and the visual arts.
DRAA seeks a Development Manager who will be responsible for front-line fundraising activities related to annual giving including direct mail, major gifts, events, corporate sponsorship and foundations. This key position reports directly to the Executive Director and works closely with the Board of Directors and staff to advance DRAA’s significant commitment to revenue growth.
A minimum of three years fundraising experience is required along with demonstrated success. Excellent writing and speaking skills, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail are also important.
Specific Responsibilities
- Manage, support, and track development efforts of Executive Director, Board, and other volunteers in the following areas
- Leadership/Board Gifts
- Major Individual Gifts
- Major Foundation Gifts
- Corporate Sponsorship
- Small Business Gifts
- Event sales, auction management & solicitation
- Manage and implement all development activities pertaining to
- Individual Membership Campaign (i.e. direct mail solicitations and follow-up)
- Special event logistics
- Foundation and government grants (including prospect identification, research & grant writing)
- Staff all Development meetings
- Work with Chairs to develop meeting agendas
- Send meeting reminders
- Take and distribute meeting minutes
- Manage and support volunteer activities between meetings
- Maintain donor relationship management systems (including database management, benefits fulfillment, gift acknowledgement)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of three years of professional experience in comprehensive annual fund programs
- Database experience required; knowledge of Salesforce.com software strongly preferred
- Thorough knowledge of fundraising strategies for individual donors
- Proven ability to meet ambitious goals
- Demonstrated ability to initiate and complete multiple tasks on time with competing priorities and deadlines
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and judgment to represent DRAA both within and outside the organization
- Ability to write and speak persuasively; excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent telephone and computer skills (Microsoft Office, Excel)
- Excellent organizational skills to work productively in a fast-paced, high-production environment
- Proven ability to work well within a team and independently
- Discretion in handling confidential information

Hours: 35-hour workweek, M-F 9am-5pm, some evenings and weekends required
Salary Range: $50,000-$55,000
Benefits for full-time employees after 90 days including health and three-weeks paid vacation
